Fu Fixer Uppers Devon McCormack Books Reviews
- I just found my next favorite comfort read. FU is an absolutely fun, very entertaining read with sizzing chemistry, lots of very satisfying sexytime and two lovable MCs. Mikey and Scott have amazing chemistry and a unique playfullness that makes their connection all the more special. I love the build up, the deepening attraction and those amazing feels that are truly palpable throughout the story. This is definitely the author's lightest book so far and I enjoyed every minute of it. We get the author's signiture writing style with his humor and very lifelike, entertaining banter between his characters. There are layers, emotions and wonderful secondary characters. This is the best comfort read I've read for a long time. Highly recommended.
- These two guys (Mikey and Scott) didn't get off to a great start, but things turned around for them pretty quickly. And then things were awesome. Mikey can't get over how nice a guy Scott is. He is genuinely so nice. Scott has a hard time comprehending how Mikey has had his first m/m experience and he's not freaking out.
These two are so great together. They are super funny and have very open, honest communication (most of the time). They are thoughtful and considerate of each other and BONUS, they are smoking hot! Scott has issues with his father that have sort of messed with his head. Mikey has issues with both of his parents and those have messed with his head big time! Besides the romance, this is part of the story that drives the plot.
I only became aware of Devon McCormack recently when I read a collaborative effort of his (Metropolis, with Riley Hart). He's a good writer! I read this book as a KU subscriber but I have now purchased it because it will go in my 'comfort' category on my kindle. I'll read it again when I need something encouraging, and sweet and cozy. 4 1/2 stars - I honestly can't tell you how much I absolutely loved this story! It was freaking fantastic!
I love the way the relationship between the two MC's wasn't some insta-love romance but a slower building love that grew over time which allowed me to connect more to Mikey and Scott. And Holy Hotness Batman!! The heat between them was burning up my like a five alarm fire! Devon definitely knows how to bring the heat!
I really enjoyed getting know these two as well, Scott was a little bit uptight, just a smidge when he first met Mikey...Very serious and kinda a workaholic but it was amazing to watch him grow and flourish as their relationship did as well.
Mikey was great...Funny, cocky, and seemingly a go with the flow kinda guy yet he was hiding so much frustration and anger inside and it was beautiful to watch as he finds himself and his, I almost want to say emotional freedom. It was amazing to watch their journey together and how they stood by each other and gave each other the strength that they desperately needed.
I loved this book and I honestly can't wait for the next and I would definitely recommend this story to EVERYONE!!! - Loved this book! Devon has written some of the most endearing characters in this book. You get a lot of very hot M/M action and a great story. You can't go wrong with any of Devon McCormack's books.
- Fantastic novel by a great author....I loved Scott and Mikey and how their relationship blossomed into something more than friendship. It amazing what spending a little time together doing something you enjoy can do. Scott was reserved and withdrawn while Mikey was open and sexy, a crazy match but perfect. Highly recommend this book!
- I loved Mikey Scott!! It was just everything. From their intial meeting, sparks flew. Sure Scott was shooting daggers at Mikey but they both had an undeniable attraction to each other. While their chemistry is what brings them together in friends with benefits kind of trope, you can soon see that beneath it all they become each other's best friend and, indeed, boyfriend. Mikey shares with Scott parts of his past he has never told anyone, while Scott also has his own self doubts that plague him. They give each other the strength needed to confront these issues, rather than continuing to run from them. This book had it all, hot sex, chemistry, fun times and a story that had you hooked from start to finish.
- Devon has done it again.
Mikey and Scott don't tart off well. Scott is defensive and snarky while Mikey smiles and stands around naked. They both are checking each other out unaware of where this a will lead them
Lots of sex and misconceptions but love comes through in the end. - The sex is hot, steamy, and fun. However the storyline seemed a little thin to me. Lots of dysfunctional family dynamics that were described as very traumatic when in reality they might be seen by many as somewhat ordinary family issues. Yet these issues propelled the storyline and the problems in connecting for the major characters. I got a little bored from time to time, but it's an OK read. Other reviewers liked it a lot more than I did. One more thing, I don't think the cover fits the book very well, but then that happens more often than not these days. "Don't judge a book by its cover," true that.
